The Best Books, Films and Recipes For Autumn

Are you looking for books to read, films to watch or just simply art to do in autumn/fall? Well look no further, this is a compilation of my favourite books, films and recipes to make in autumn/fall.

Books

Cynthia Murphy

Cynthia Murphy is a YA horror writer, her novels are riveting, spooky and ridden with unsuspecting plot twists. Personally, I love her use of diverse characters each with a unique background and plot. All her novels are stand alone but each are equally thrilling and fun to read.

Stephen King

Want a more popular horror writer, well look no further than the iconic Stephen King, his novels are gory, thrilling and diverse, so you're guaranteed to find a story that appeals to you! As well the film adaptation of his book The Long Walk is coming to cinemas soon, so what better a time to get into a Stephen King obsession.

Travis Baldree

Looking for something more cosy? Well Travis Baldree is the author for you, his stories Bookshops and Bonedust and Legends and Lattes are a perfect blend of cosy and fantasy, you're guaranteed to fall in love with the adorable cast of characters you will meet in these books, as well as never stop feeling hungry or wishing to be in an adorable bookshop.

Donna Tartt

Bestselling author Donna Tartt is easily the definition of fall/autumn writing, particularly The Secret History, this deeply personal dark academia style book are perfect for late rainy autumn nights where you are snuggled up with a hot drink. She has a large collection of books she has written so there are many for you to enjoy.

Films

Beetlejuice (1988)

This quirky horror style comedy film is guaranteed to get you in the spooky mood, as well as enjoying the nonstop fun of Beetlejuice. It follows Adam and Barbra who are recently deceased and their friendship with Lydia, the girl who has just moved into the house they haunt happily. That is until they meet the demon Beetlejuice. Just be careful to not say his name three times, or else you'll get a personal account of his chaos.

Dead Poets Society (1989)

Nothing screams autumn/fall more than Dead Poets Society, this soul destroying yet beautiful film always makes me fell warm and cosy while also deeply regretting watching the film. Not that this film is bad, its just, well I'll let you find that out yourself. It follows the students of Welton Academy and their friendship with their English professor, John Keating played by Robin Williams. It grapples with the desire to survive pressure from authorities determined to destroy their dreams.

The Conjuring (2013)

This horror film is based off the true story of the Perron family and their haunted farmhouse in the 1970s, which was investigated by Ed and Lorraine Warren. There are many sequels and prequels to this film so if you liked the first you can fully get into the story. As a matter of fact The Conjuring 3 comes out this year, so one more reason to watch this great film.
